We are looking for someone who is passionate about a variety of industry-related topics who can deliver quality writing that appeals to our audience, attracts readers, and boost awareness to the Blog.
THE POSITION
At Opera Offstage we like to provide our readers with a variety of content and resources because we believe being a well-rounded musician means more than just keeping up with opera news.
As the lead Writer for the Opera Offstage Blog, you have the opportunity to write on topics that interest you- whether that means gathering a list of productivity apps you're loving, or conducting interviews with opera companies on new productions!
You will primarily work alongside Michelle (co-host and co-founder) and Emily (Administrator) to ensure deadlines are met and that all Blog posts align with our mission.
We predict the position will require 2-3 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES

2 Monthly Blog posts (500-800 words)

Identify gaps in our written content and recommend new topics

Ensure consistency in post style, images, and narrative tone

Work with editor on any necessary corrections or edits
QUALITIES OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE

Great writing and research skills (experience as a blogger/ content writer encouraged but not required)

Familiarity with and curiosity for current news in Classical music (especially with new music)

Understanding of systemic racism and oppression in Classical music, support of equity + justice, and commitment to tackling difficult issues in the music industry head-on

Great organizational skills and is able to easily meet deadlines

Self-motivated and able to propose new topics for the Blog
